The city exhaled damp rot and brine, the air heavy with salt and the faint perfume of illicit assignations drifting from distant campi. Moonlight sliced through the mist, gilding the sweat on his bare torso, broad shoulders tapering to a narrow waist, every ridge of muscle etched sharp from years of steel and survival. The red sash at his hips gleamed like fresh-spilled blood against black wool trousers that hugged powerful thighs. Gauntlets of dark leather encased his forearms; daggers hung silent at his belt, and his rapier rested loose in a gloved fist, its pommel worn smooth by countless caresses of violence.

He leaned against the ivy-choked wall of an abandoned palazzo, its once-grand façade now a ruin of cracked marble and crumbling frescoes. The lagoon lapped hungrily at the steps below, a restless tongue against stone. Tonight the shadows delivered no rival blade, no whispered betrayal from the guilds. Instead they birthed temptation incarnate.

Luca stepped from the alley’s mouth, cloak shed like a discarded skin. His simple linen shirt clung translucent to his lithe frame in the humid night, slender chest rising quick, nipples already peaked beneath the damp fabric, narrow hips swaying with a thief’s deliberate grace. His eyes, black as polished obsidian, locked on Dario with something far hungrier than professional curiosity. Weeks of trailing, of feeding scraps to rival factions, had curdled into raw want.

“You think you can hide from me?” Dario’s voice rolled low, gravel and smoke, moustache curling with dark amusement. He sheathed the rapier with languid intent, steel rasping like fingernails dragged down bare skin.

Luca closed the distance, breath shallow. “I don’t want to hide. I want to feel you.”
